Tata Motors (Thailand) Limited officially announces positive annual sales result and business operations for fiscal year 2016 (fiscal year 2016, from 1 April 2016 to 31 March 2017), capping key figures for both local sales and exports in FY2016. In 2016, the total sales volume increased 19% from the year before whereas the industry volume increased only 2%. The domestic sales of Tata Xenon increased 38%. The export sales of Tata Xenon increased 17%. Tata Super Ace sales decreased 25% mainly due to the supply constraint from India for 3 months. However, the company currently improved customers’ positive reception by pricing Super Ace Mint 365,000 Baht only and giving more sale campaigns. For truck, Tata Ultra was successfully launched in Bangkok and upcountry.

For new fiscal year, although the domestic automotive industry is forecasted to grow 5-6%, the company has set its goal to deliver 3,000 units or 83% increase from last year. The company expects sales momentum to continue to FY2017, particularly with the major change of Xenon pickup that will be launched in Q4 of 2017. The Xenon is expected to deliver a total of 2,100 units (1,800 for domestic and 300 units for exports), 500 units for Super Ace Mint, 300 units for Ultra and 100 units for heavy truck by end of this year.

To support that sales target, the company will launch new products, including major change of Xenon which will come with Automatic Transmission, Rack & Pinion Steering and new features. Super Ace Mint will come with the most suitable usage for its segment, good quality assembly and best value for money.

Apart from 2 local production products, 3 additional models of Tata Ultra 6-wheel light duty trucks will be added by September. For heavy truck, in November 2017, the company will introduce new models of the Tata Prima heavy duty commercial trucks starting with the official launch of the 10-wheeler and 12-wheeler with 280Hp and 380HP models to help meet increasing demands and requirements of commercial and fleet customers.

Moreover, the company announces factory shifting in Thailand, to Bangchan General Assembly Company Limited, Minburi. The new Tata production line is scheduled for September and will start trial around October 2017. Parallel to installing equipment to the new production facility and upgrading the production line of Xenon Pickup.

In the new location, company will also invest in new line for manufacturing Super Ace Mint and make both Left Hand Drive (LHD) and Right Hand Drive (RHD).

Mr. Sanjay Mishra said, “FY2016 marked Tata’s best retail performance compared to FY2015, with increased sales of 19%. However, lower sales numbers than forecast reflects that Auto Industry did not grow as expected. FY2017 is a big step for Company’s future. We made announcements of exciting new vehicles, factory upgrades and initiative to better serve customers, new investment for Super Ace Mint and emerging opportunities that will deliver profitable and sustainable growth in Thailand.” Our mission is “Full Range Trucking Solution Provider” by the end of this year and we will be the only one in the market who provides full range of commercial vehicles in the same brand umbrella.
